MORE ABOUT SARAH
Singer, actress, and ATKV-Crescendo mentor Sarah Theron already loved the stage as a teenager. “I was paid R80 to sing, and in 1979 that was a fortune!” she reveals. Today, she is one of those artists who has made her mark in various areas of the entertainment world.
She studied drama at Stellenbosch University and the Tshwane University of Technology (then Pretoria Technikon), and in 1989 she was awarded the Frans Marx bursary for the most promising drama student. After completing her studies, she established herself as a singer, voice artist, and actress. Her portrayal of Baby Botha in Frans Marx’s soap opera Egoli is likely the role that first made her a household name among South Africans.
In addition to numerous other prizes and accolades, one of the highlights of Sarah’s career so far was achieving ninth place in the 2009 Eurovision World Peace Song Contest with Dearest Madiba / Briefie vir Madiba.
For the past few years, she has been an indispensable member of the ATKV mentorship programme, where she guides finalists as a vocal coach and mentors them in various aspects of performance.
